The Importance of Skincare & Self‑Esteem for Youth
Skincare plays a powerful role in building self‑esteem, confidence, and emotional well‑being among youth and young adults. Many young people struggle with skin concerns that affect how they see themselves, how they interact with others, and how they show up in school and community spaces. By teaching healthy skincare habits, we help youth understand their bodies, practice self‑care, and develop positive routines that support both physical and emotional wellness. A Mintel survey found that 58% of teens view skincare as an important form of self‑care, using it to manage stress and boost their mood.
SKE added this program in response to the growing need for youth to feel seen, supported, and confident in their own skin. Thanks to the expertise of our esthetician, Spirit, along with the generosity of our vendors and volunteers, we hosted a dedicated Skincare Day that provided hands‑on demonstrations, product education, and personalized guidance. Their contributions allowed us to create a safe, uplifting environment where youth could ask questions, learn proper techniques, and experience the empowerment that comes from caring for themselves.
This program now stands as an essential part of our youth wellness initiatives—promoting self‑esteem, healthy habits, and the belief that every young person deserves to feel comfortable, confident, and valued.
