This Is Why We Rise: Stories That Inspire”

Welcome to “This Is Why We Rise: Stories That Inspire”—a living gallery of courage, resilience, and transformation. Here, the voices of youth, families, advocates, and community partners speak loud and clear. Each story reflects not just where someone has been, but how far they’ve come—from pain to purpose, isolation to empowerment, fear to hope. These are the real faces of change behind I AM INVISIBLE, and their journeys remind us: when we rise together, healing becomes possible. Let their words lift you. Let their strength move you forward.

Brainstorming

“As an educator, I’ve witnessed the importance of standing up against bullying. Many lives have been lost due to senseless decisions—especially among our youth. It’s time for all of us to come together and put a stop to it, starting in our schools.”

Dr. Marlon Heaston, Principal, Kenwood Middle School
Excerpt from ACTIONS: The Bullying & Suicide Resource Guide for the 21st Century, authored by Sharon Kaye Edwards

“Bullying has become a relentless force—no longer confined to school walls, but following students through technology. Sharon, thank you for bringing light to this darkness. Your book offers hope, understanding, and the tools to help stop the harm.”

Rebecca Edwards, M.Ed., English Teacher, Rossview Middle School Excerpt from ACTIONS: The Bullying & Suicide Resource Guide for the 21st Century, authored by Sharon Kaye Edwards

“I’ve observed Sharon Kaye Edwards serve in multiple roles across our Clarksville and Montgomery County community. She’s a rare leader whose work consistently creates lasting, positive impact—especially through her nonprofit, I AM INVISIBLE. Her dedication to empowering youth, many of whom lack stable role models, is both inspiring and essential. Sharon’s compassion, resilience, and ability to confront hard issues give me confidence that our community is in capable hands.”

— Brigadier General Scott E. Brower (Retired), Director, Bass Military Scholars Program, Vanderbilt University

“The Anti-Bullying Program moved me to tears. My child desperately needed this—and honestly, so did I. It gave us both a sense of hope and reminded me that we’re not alone. I’m so thankful this school stands with my child. And so do I.”

— A grateful parent from Kenwood Middle School.

Journalist Desk

Mrs. Sharon,

I am so very happy that your team was here with us. I've had several members reach out and thank us for including you as they have younger children or grandchildren who deal with some of the difficulties of bullying and depression. I'm very happy to hear that you had interactions that were fruitful as well with follow-up information. I am a huge advocate for mental health and shining alight on our youth and the difficulties they face. I would love to keep your contact information and reach out with any of the other events we will be organizing.

YMCA Fun Company had the pleasure of Having I AM INVISIBLE BULLYING . Executive Director Sharon Edwards and her team were amazing. The program is focused on anti-bullying. This program is needed in all Schools.

The program has a unique way of communicating to all age groups the importance of compassion and understanding for others. Children are shown effective ways to communicate in peace and acceptance. If you have the opportunity to introduce this program in your classroom or program; Do not hesitate!

“I’m deeply thankful to God for placing people in our lives who lift us higher. My son Mateo—and so many children in Clarksville—had the incredible opportunity to showcase their talents and learn alongside celebrity Chef Sterling Wright from Hell’s Kitchen, both Chef Brandons, and Chef Robin Little of Diamond Ministries.  A very special thank you to Sharon Kaye Edwards— ‘Grandma Sharon’—for bringing this all together and for always being a voice of hope and a listening ear, even when I’ve felt invisible.”
