Quantitative Foundations

My quantitative foundation is built through a combination of formal academic preparation, recognition in a national honor society, and more than 30 years of professional leadership in roles that require consistent, real‑world application of mathematical reasoning. As a current Bachelor of Science student in Sociology and Community Development at Austin Peay State University, I maintain Honors standing with a 3.783 Honors GPA and a cumulative GPA of 3.400. My induction into Alpha Kappa Delta, the International Sociology Honor Society, reflects my commitment to academic excellence, research‑based inquiry, and analytical rigor. Prior to APSU, I studied Human Development and Leadership at Fisk University and was inducted into Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society, further demonstrating a long‑standing record of scholarly achievement.

My academic coursework, including Methods of Social Research, Analysis and Assessment, Principles of Management, Business Communication, and Professional Writing, has strengthened my abilities in statistical interpretation, measurement, evaluation, data analysis, and structured documentation. These courses provided the theoretical and methodological grounding necessary for understanding quantitative information, evaluating evidence, and applying mathematical concepts to real‑world problems. This academic preparation forms the basis for the quantitative competencies demonstrated throughout my professional experience.

In addition to classroom learning, my appointment as a Political Treasurer for a judicial campaign illustrates applied quantitative reasoning within a regulated civic environment. This role requires maintaining accurate financial records, calculating balances, tracking contributions and expenditures, completing quarterly reports, and submitting official filings to the Tennessee Bureau of Ethics and Campaign Finance. These responsibilities involve spreadsheet management, proportional reasoning, and interpreting numerical data within state‑mandated reporting structures, reinforcing the practical mathematics emphasized in MATH 1010.

My professional background further demonstrates extensive application of mathematical concepts across nonprofit administration, business ownership, event operations, publishing, and digital management. As Executive Director of I AM INVISIBLE BULLYING AND SUICIDE, I manage budgets, conduct cost analyses, allocate resources, and evaluate program data to guide organizational decisions. As CEO and Event Operations Manager for L & S Elegant Weddings and Occasion Designers, I develop event budgets, create pricing structures, manage contracts and invoicing, forecast financial needs, and perform quantitative scheduling and capacity planning. As Founder of SKE Publishing, I oversee financial operations, inventory management, sales tracking, and revenue projections. My work in website development and digital management further demonstrates quantitative reasoning through measurement, proportion, analytics interpretation, and cost comparison for hosting platforms and digital tools.

Across all roles, I consistently apply quantitative reasoning through budgeting, forecasting, proportional thinking, cost analysis, vendor evaluation, contract pricing, data interpretation, and problem‑solving. These responsibilities reflect the core competencies of MATH 1010, which emphasizes practical mathematics used in society, business, and community‑based environments.

This Quantitative Foundations section establishes the academic and experiential base upon which the remainder of this portfolio builds, demonstrating the depth and consistency of my mathematical preparation.
