In this segment, I communicated the purpose of the Great Gatsby Gala, explained the mission behind our initiative, and engaged with a live media audience in a clear, organized, and professional manner.

Annual Juvenile Justice Conference Instructional Presentation

This presentation was delivered for the Annual Juvenile Justice Conference, an event traditionally held at Austin Peay State University where I have facilitated workshops for both youth and adult participants since 2016. Due to the COVID‑19 pandemic, the 2021 session was conducted virtually, demonstrating my ability to adapt instructional communication to both in‑person and online environments. The workshop utilized my original curriculum and a structured PowerPoint presentation to guide participants through scenario‑based learning, supported by clear verbal explanation, purposeful pacing, and effective visual‑aid integration.

The virtual format required intentional audience analysis and strategic communication choices, as participants engaged through Zoom’s chat and interactive features. I facilitated real‑time discussion, responded to participant input, and guided the audience through applied scenarios designed to build understanding and reflection. This presentation provides direct evidence of multiple COMM 2045 learning objectives, including organized message delivery, effective verbal and nonverbal communication, integration of visual aids, audience‑centered adaptation for mixed age groups, and the facilitation of interactive learning in both virtual and in‑person settings.  To view additional information about the Annual Juvenile Justice Conference and explore the broader context of my ongoing work with this event, please visit the official conference website at the link provided below.

Stop the Bullying Tour – Assembly Excerpt (2012)

This excerpt from my 2012 Stop the Bullying school assembly, presented to more than 800 middle‑ and high‑school students across the Georgia school system, highlights the early development of my youth‑communication approach. It demonstrates key COMM 2045 competencies, including audience adaptation, organized message delivery, clarity in communication, and confident engagement with a large student audience.

These foundational communication skills later informed the creation of the Be You Curriculum, which is included on the Supporting Documents page of this portfolio as additional evidence of my instructional design and youth‑advocacy work.

Applied Leadership Communication

This video features my role as a selected panelist for the Healthy & Holistic Mental Health Seminar, where I responded to spontaneous audience questions using evidence‑informed communication grounded in QPR, CPRS, and Youth Mental Health First Aid. In this setting, I demonstrated key COMM 2045 competencies, including adapting my message for a diverse adult audience, maintaining clarity and organization under pressure, practicing active listening, and communicating professionally in real time.

The clip also highlights my ability to translate complex mental‑health concepts into accessible language while upholding professionalism, composure, and ethical awareness when addressing sensitive topics.

Leadership Communication Interview

Professional Communication Podcast Interview

The Leadership CMCSS – Participant Interview demonstrates my ability to communicate leadership principles clearly and professionally in a community‑focused environment. Selected at the start of the session with only brief guiding questions and approximately fifteen minutes to prepare, I organized my main points quickly and relied on authentic, experience‑based communication to maintain clarity and purpose.

This evidence aligns with COMM 2045 by illustrating organized message design, confident verbal delivery, audience‑centered communication, and adaptability under time pressure core indicators of effective public speaking in real‑world leadership contexts. The interview required me to balance clarity with conciseness, ensuring that my responses remained relevant, structured, and accessible to a diverse community audience.

The Podcast Interview Professional Communication demonstrates my ability to communicate clearly and professionally in a conversational media setting. I prepared by reviewing my QPR Gatekeeper Training and referencing my book Actions: The Bullying and Resource Guide for the 21st Century to ensure accurate, evidence‑informed responses. Several questions were unscripted, requiring real‑time message organization, adaptability, and authentic communication.

The interview reflects verbal clarity, narrative structure, and the ability to present complex experiences in accessible language for an adult audience.

This evidence aligns with COMM 2045 by demonstrating interpersonal communication, spontaneous speaking, active listening, and audience‑centered message adaptation in a real‑world context.
