


Sharon Kaye Edwards: A Champion for Mental Health and Community Development

At the age of seven, Sharon Kaye Edwards tragically lost her brother, an event that led to a period of depression and bullying. Despite these significant challenges, her resilience and dedication to mental health support have become the defining features of her life’s work.

Sharon began her academic journey at Fisk University, majoring in Human Development and Leadership, where she was inducted into the Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society. She later transferred to Austin Peay State University to study Sociology with a focus on Community Development, and she is set to graduate in 2026. She also earned her Public Innovator Certification from the Harwood Institute, underscoring her commitment to driving innovation in public services through community engagement and data-driven decision-making. Additionally, Sharon serves as a STEM evaluator for the CMCSS STEM workshop at APSU and is an active member of the Partners in Education Association with Kenwood Middle School.

In 2018, Sharon and her husband Ellery founded the non-profit organization I AM INVISIBLE BULLYING AND SUICIDE, dedicated to anti-bullying and suicide prevention efforts. Through her company, SKE Publishing, Sharon has led impactful anti-bullying initiatives and after-school programs at Kenwood Middle School. As a skilled author, she has written three books on mental health and empowerment, co-authored a short film titled I’m Invisible—used in schools to educate about bullying and suicide—and conducted workshops based on her certifications in mental health. These include CPRS (Certified Peer Recovery Specialist), QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer), and Youth Mental Health First Aid USA. Sharon’s unwavering commitment to raising awareness and fostering education continues to create meaningful change in the lives of many.

Sharon Kaye Edwards has been featured on several prominent Nashville media outlets, including WSMV, Channel 5 Nashville's "Talk of the Town," and Fox 17. Through these platforms, she has shared her extensive knowledge and advocacy against bullying, suicide prevention, mental health initiatives, empowerment, and leadership. These media appearances have allowed her to reach a wide audience, spreading awareness and education on these critical topics.
Beyond her media presence, Sharon has spoken to diverse audiences across multiple states, including Tennessee, Kentucky, Illinois, and Georgia. Her efforts have been instrumental in spreading hope and education to both youth and community members, empowering them with the tools and knowledge to combat bullying, suicide, and support mental health.
